Founded in 2009 to facilitate the need for a yet another Saab enthusiast conglomerate, the Midwest Saab Association has set out to become the new benchmark for people taking themselves too seriously.

From day one, the Midwest Saab Association’s founding fathers vowed to do things differently from other serious business clubs.

Instead of the banality of rehashed, cross-posted automotive banter, we instead opted for a “Cat of the Month” feature. Other upcoming features will eventually include member submitted “Recipe of the Month” and a “Firearm of the Month”. A nomination and voting process will aid members in determining the beneficiary of another upcoming feature, “Douche of the Month.”

We here at the MSA feel the need for full Financial Disclosure with members and guests in regards to profits made from sales of mismatched single wheels and half sets we have been stockpiling/hoarding.

We knew right from the beginning that we would have to hold our esteemed members to the absolute highest level of decorum and dignified behavior. This is reflected not only in our Mission Statement but also in our stringent Code of Conduct.

We understand that being part of car club is serious business; these clubs exist not only as place for people of similar automotive interests to network and socialize, but also for the amelioration of mankind.

Thanks for stopping by and checking us out, come back often as new features are added all the time. Be sure to swing over to the Contact page and give us your email to receive various spam and the MSA monthly newsletter.

As the summer solstice approaches we are reminded that a new Cat of the Month is long overdue. This month we are lucky enough to have one our most esteemed members take a few minutes out of his day to write a brief biography of his beloved feline Franklin.

Also of note, yesterday midwestsaabassociation.org received our 500th unique visitor to our humble site. We sincerely hope everyone is enjoying this site, we sure had a blast putting it together.

You can all look forward to some new “of the month” features as well as our upcoming financial disclosure for the third fiscal quarter.

The code of conduct page has received some updates and members of the Minnesota chapter are looking forward to the upcoming first annual ‘MSA Celebrates Canada Day‘ get-together.

This evening I had the opportunity, thanks to Nick at GenuineSaab, to get exclusive first pictures and some more detail on the upcoming GS NG900/9-3 Short Shifter. There will be two versions of the shifter: a “standard” version, which uses the stock rod height. The second version will be a “pro” version, which uses a custom rod that moves the entire rod further back, closer to the driver. Nick hopes that these will come in at a price point of less than $200.

The following pictures are of test pieces; the final pieces will be more refined/pretty. But this is a fully functional prototype:

Thanks to Nick at GS for continuing aftermarket support for the Saab Community!

Just got an update from Nick:

-metric bearing on the metric shaft for no slop This one is custom made too
-Full articulation. The custom bearing won’t bind up.
-Rigid mounting. No more looseness.
-couple options there will be a plain one you install or a complete ready to bolt in “pro”unit. (I am not having one of my cars loose a race as a result of a shifter problem again! silly me left the prototype in the beater car)
-Oh and it has to retain reverse ramp to get into 5th easy. both the reverse and 5th gear stops are adjustable
